Personalized patient care in a comfortable environment.
What is infusion?
The infusion center has both a large infusion area and private treatment rooms. Our registered nursing staff provides compassionate personalized care during your infusion in a relaxed and comfortable setting.
Office IV Infusion Therapy?Usually, a medically stable patient does not need to be admitted to the hospital for certain therapy. As a result, the patient can receive treatment in the office infusion center. This involves the administration of the prescribed medication(s) intravenously or with some drugs via injection. The BGC infusion center provides multiple medications. Our most common medications are: Remicade, Orencia, Cimzia, Stelara, Humira, and Reclast.
Biologic Medications For Immune Mediated Inflammatory Disease (IMID)
The available biologic medications are Remicade, Orencia, Cimzia, Stelara and Humira. Biologic therapy is indicated for reducing the signs and symptoms including maintaining clinical remission in patient's with moderate to severe diseases such as Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), Ankylosing Spondylitis, Psoriasis, and Psoriatic Arthritis. The available biologic medications are Remicade, Orencia, Cimzia, Stelara and Humira.
A PPD, Chest X-ray, and lab work must be obtained within one year of referral date and prior to administrations of all biologic medications. These patients may be considered for biologic therapy that are classified as IMID and have not responded to conventional therapy or are not candidates for other medications.
Remicade is FDA approved for all IMID diagnoses. It is based on patient weight so each dose is made uniquely for that patient at the time of their infusion appointment. It is infused every 8 weeks over two hours at the minimum, but can be infused over a longer time interval based on the needs of the individual.
Orencia is FDA approved for Rheumatoid Arthritis in juveniles and adults. It has three dosing values based on weight up to 1000mg. It is infused over 30 minutes and the patient comes once monthly for their infusions once they are on maintenance.
Cimzia is FDA approved for Crohn's disease and Rheumatoid Arthritis. It is a subcutaneous injection given once monthly at 400mg for each injection once the patient is on the maintenance dose.
Stelara is FDA approved for Psoriasis. It has two dosing values, 45mg for those less that 220 pounds and 90mg for those greater than 220 pounds. It is also a subcutaneous injection given once every twelve weeks for maintenance dosing for Psoriasis.
Humira is FDA approved for Crohn's disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Psoriasis, and Ankylosing Spondylitis. It is a subcantaneous injection typically given every other week at home by the patient once the patient has reached maintenance dosing. The dosing regimen may vary per the patients response to the medication and individual needs. BGC infusion provides one on one teaching regarding medication safety, precautions, and proper administration techniques. Support for the patient as well as the family is provided to each patient.
Reclast (Zoledronic Acid)
Reclast is an IV bisphosponate that is given once a year for treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis and Padget's disease. Since this medication is not orally taken, the problems with multiple medications is reduced and drug interactions are eliminated.
The BGC infusion center is always looking for better ways to care for our patients. There are always new medications on the horizon to treat diseases. One can be confident that our center will strive to provide multiple treatments to care for each individual diagnosis. We offer other treatment modalities so please feel free to contact our center for specific information.
