Barium Enema with Air Contrast
This test is a series of x-rays of the colon. The patient is given an enema with a white, chalky solution that outlines the colon in the x-rays. The physician then expands the colon by adding air into the colon which may make you feel bloated.
It is important the your colon is clear before the exam so that your results will be accurate. You may need to prep before the test.
If polyps are found the patient may need a colonoscopy or other follow up tests.
