Dysphagia or Difficulty Swallowing
Difficulty swallowing or Dysphagia is a common condition. If you have Dysphagia it will take more effort for your food to move from your mouth to your stomach. It may feel like the food is stuck in your chest or throat and cause gagging or choking.Symptoms of dysphagia:
- difficulty Swallowing,
- food gets stuck,
- gagging or choking,
- recurring coughing or hoarseness
Causes of Dysphagia or Difficulty Swallowing can be:
- 1. Neurological - (example - stroke)
- 2. Obstructive Causes
Don’t ignore symptoms. It is important to catch cancer in early stages or rule it out as a cause for your symptoms. Visit your doctor if you feel like food is getting stuck or you have difficulty swallowing.
