Dr. Robert Aportela is a pathologist that specializes in GI Pathology.  He was born in Matanzas, Cuba and earned his medical degree at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara in Mexico.  He has 39 years of experience.  He is also triple board-certified in anatomical and clinical pathology (laboratory medicine), and in the subspecialty of cytopathology, with special training in the field of cytopathology.  He has vast expertise in GI pathology, after more than 30 years of reviewing GI cases with over 150,000 biopsies interpreted.  Dr. Robert Aportela has also performed specialty training in the field of fine needle aspiration cytopathology at the prestigious Karolinska Institute in Sweden, which is the most advanced center in the field of fine needle aspirations.  His hobbies are stamp collection and boating.
