Kyle Etzkorn, M.D., F.A.C.P., C.P.I.

After completing his fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of Texas Health Science Center/MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Etzkorn completed an advanced fellowship in Hepato-Biliary medicine at the University of Illinois Hospital where he trained in advanced therapeutic procedures and the management of liver transplant patients. After completion of his training, he remained on the faculty at the University of Illinois in Chicago as acting director of the GI endoscopy lab, where he was involved in the training of fellows in advanced endoscopic procedures such as ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound and diagnostic laparoscopy. In addition he was active in biomedical research, having initiated and completed several clinical studies in the advancement of endoscopic surgery techniques. Dr. Etzkorn joined the Borland-Groover Clinic in 1996, having a special interest in the advancement of therapeutic endoscopy and the management of liver diseases.

Recently, Dr. Etzkorn developed the Double Balloon Endoscopy program at Baptist Medical Center. Dr. Etzkorn has participated in a broad range of drug and device trials. He has authored numerous publications, abstracts,book chapters and poster presentations, and is a review board member of the medical journal: Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the official scientific publication of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr. Etzkorn remains active in clinical research and medical education, and is an active principle investigator in numerous ongoing clinical studies at the Borland-Groover Clinic, and serves as director of the Borland-Groover Clinical Research Foundation at the Clinic. He recently was certified as a Clinical Physician Investigator by the Association of Clinical Research Professionals.

Dr. Etzkorn is chairman of the Baptist Medical Health System Continuing Medical Education Committee and is a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee at Baptist Medical Center. Dr. Etzkorn is the Chairman of the Department of Gastroenterology at Baptist Medical Center. Dr. Etzkorn’s most recent interest has been the development of virtual colonoscopy, and is working with a team at the Borland-Groover Clinic providing virtual colonoscopy.
