Gastroenterologist

Dr. Donevan Westerveld is a board-certified Internist and Gastroenterologist. He completed his medical school training and internal medicine residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville. During his time in residency, he was recognized as the most outstanding resident in internal medicine and was awarded the Leighton E. Cluff award which recognizes the resident who best exemplifies leadership, integrity, and personal commitment to education.  Due to his dedication to patient care and strong leadership abilities, he was offered a position as the chief resident in internal medicine at the University of Florida. He has also been inducted into the coveted Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Medical Honor Society.

 

He went on to complete his gastroenterology fellowship training at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City.  In addition to treating disorders of the upper and lower gastrointestinal system, he has a special interest in large polyp resections,
pancreaticobiliary disorders including management of pancreatic cysts, and endoscopic ultrasound.

 

He is married to his high school sweetheart and a proud father. During his free time, he enjoys playing sports with his family and traveling.
