Gastroenterologist

 Dr. Tarun Rai is a highly experienced and well-educated physician, specializing in gastroenterology. He graduated from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, a renowned medical institution in India, in 2008. Driven by a passion for medicine and a desire to pursue a career in the United States, he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 2013. He went on to complete his fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Kansas Medical Center in 2016, where he also obtained a Master of Science in Clinical Research due to his keen interest in clinical outcomes research.

Dr. Rai has served as an academic staff physician at the University of Kansas Medical Center and VA hospital, where he also directed gastroenterology fellow's education. He is known for his thoughtful approach to patient care and his kind and considerate manner. He is committed to continuing his work in clinical outcomes research and applying new knowledge to clinical practice.

Dr. Rai is dedicated to providing the highest level of care to his patients and is excited to bring his expertise to the community. Along with treating general GI conditions, he has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions, including:

  • Barrett's Esophagus
  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease
  • Dysphagia
  • Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE)
  • Colon cancer screening
  • Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease


When he is not practicing medicine, Dr. Tarun enjoys traveling and listening to music. He moved to the Jacksonville area with his family and is looking forward to exploring all that it has to offer.
