Yuval Patel
MD, MHS

Dr. Yuval A. Patel is a board-certified gastroenterologist and transplant hepatologist. He has expertise in the diagnosis and management of GI and liver disorders. His care philosophy centers on patients feeling empowered about their own medical care. He strives to partner with patients to develop the best care plan for each of them. 

 

Dr. Patel graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Biology from Duke University. He earned his medical degree at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, which was followed by internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He subsequently completed his gastroenterology and transplant hepatology fellowships at Duke Hospital, and completed a masters of health sciences in clinical research at that time.

 

Prior to joining Borland Groover he worked as academic faculty at Duke University Hospital in the GI division, serving as Medical Director of the main hospital-based GI clinic. He has a specific research interest in liver diseases, which has led to numerous presentations at national meetings and over 50 peer-reviewed publications.

 

When he is not practicing medicine, he enjoys traveling and outdoor activities with his wife and two young children.
